Yoselyn Lee & Minsook Kim - Wild Takes 2

"I was introduced to Miss Takes when I was volunteering at the Houston Media Source. My first event was the Miss Takes Social Hour — a great ice breaker. I was able to chat with DPs, writers and more. Miss Takes impacted me to explore myself from a self-care POV. I knew I wanted to do more, I just didn't know what.

Since then, I've attended the Miss Takes Writers Studio where I have now written several scripts. I would've never written any of those thoughts down without the encouragement of Jonathan, Vanessa and Richard! I also would've never learned that side of myself either.

I did not go to Film School so at times I felt I lacked knowledge of film crew titles and meanings. Luckily Miss Takes has given me the opportunity to explore roles and gain exposure. For those interested in joining — DO IT! Do it shy or proud. You won't lose here. You'll gain a friend, knowledge, or an experience with someone new. I love you Miss Takes!"

"Miss Takes Film Club is wonderful. It's got so many opportunities for actors and crew members. If you are an actor or if you are interested in trying scriptwriting as well as directing, it's the perfect place to be."

"Joining Miss Takes Film Club has had a positive impact on my creative journey. Through the projects I’ve worked on with the group, I’ve gained hands-on experience, built confidence, and learned so much creatively and professionally. I’m especially grateful for the free acting sessions to work on my craft, movie screening invitations, and play readings that have helped me grow as both an artist and collaborator. The community is supportive, inspiring, and full of opportunities to learn and connect. I would highly recommend Miss Takes to anyone considering joining a film club or looking to grow in the creative industry.

"Being a member of Miss Takes Film Club has helped me a bunch with building my confidence and meeting other creators. I have worked with different gear and have been able to network with other people in easier ways. Being a member has also helped me a bunch with my confidence with my work."

"Being part of Miss Takes Film Club has been remarkable. Ever since the organization's inception, it has constantly been welcoming and professional. Here, everyone understands that mistakes happen — from the people just starting out to those with the most experience."

"As someone who has little to no film experience, Miss Takes means a lot because now I have a community I'm able to talk with and ask questions about. It's helped me gain my confidence to be behind the camera."

"What I love about Miss Takes Film Club is that building meaningful relationships is just as important as making films. This group has so much activity going on, and there's plenty of room for the Houston film community — from students to experienced cast and crew — to come and play!"

"So for me personally the Miss Takes club has opened a new door of opportunities in volunteering in film festivals. I don't think I would have gotten this much needed experience in the film fest space and new found passion without the club's help!"

I love working with Miss Takes, because everyone is there to learn and grow and play and figure it out. There’s only one way to learn what happens on set and that’s to be on set. With Miss Takes, you can practice necessary skills, try new things, and yes, even make mistakes, and try it again. It’s an incredibly valuable filmmaker sandbox, and a genuine asset to the Houston film community. Plus the food is AMAZING!
