Miss Takes Actors’ Studio

Welcome to the Miss Takes Actors’ Studio — where performance meets practice, and actors show up for each other. This is your space to run auditions, explore monologues, workshop scenes, dive into improv, and stretch your range in a no-ego zone.

Whether you’re prepping for your next role or just want to play, this studio is about consistent craft, honest feedback, and growing together — one scene at a time.

Miss Takes Writers’ Studio

Miss Takes Writers’ Studio is a creative space for screenwriters and storytellers to develop their ideas, refine their scripts, and grow together. We meet in libraries, cafés, and online — wherever inspiration strikes — to write side-by-side, share feedback, and support one another through every phase of the process.

Whether you're outlining a concept, polishing dialogue, or stuck in a rewrite, this is a space to workshop story structure, deepen character development, and receive honest, constructive feedback in a supportive environment.

We also host table reads (in-person and virtual), providing a chance to hear your words aloud and gain real insight.

Editors are welcome, too — we open our space to those looking to develop their editing skills and collaborate with writers to shape story flow and tone. If you're a storyteller who thrives on community, craft, and collaboration, this is your studio.

Miss Takes Wild Takes

Miss Takes Wild Takes is our improv-based production space — where anything goes, and everything gets filmed.

Actors, directors, and crew are assembled on the spot. Scenes are built in real time. Prompts are thrown out, characters are born on the fly, and the camera never stops rolling.

We start by filming short scripted or semi-scripted scenes — assigning a director, cast, and crew right there on set. Then we open it up to group improv, where everyone’s invited to create a character, follow a prompt, and test how long we can keep a scene alive by listening, reacting, and taking big swings.

We also feature solo improv confessions — individual, character-driven monologues where performers invent their own backstories and speak directly to the camera.

It's messy. It's unpredictable. It's so much fun.

Wild Takes is about play, trust, collaboration — and letting creativity run wild.

Miss Takes Film Productions

We bring scripts from our Writers’ Studio members to life on screen. Active members of the Actors Studio, Social Hours, and Fitness Club are also welcome to submit scripts, with priority given to Writers’ Studio projects.

Selected scripts are filmed for our YouTube channel, website, or potential film festival submissions. Our goal is to produce work from active members while providing hands-on experience for both cast and crew.

Casting is open to all, but crew positions are reserved for Miss Takes members only.

Miss Takes Fitness Club

Miss Takes Fitness Club is all about moving together, building strength, and fostering community — from the inside out. We host group walks, bike rides, basketball meetups, yoga sessions, and more. No pressure, no competition — just a supportive space to feel good in your body and connect with others. All levels, all bodies, all vibes welcome.

Our signature event, Cycle & Scene, combines fitness and creativity. Join us for a group bike ride followed by a relaxed outdoor writing session. Move your body, breathe in fresh air, and then settle in with prompts and notebooks to get your ideas flowing. Bring your bike, your pen, and your imagination — let’s get moving and creative, together.

Every 3rd Sunday of each month — but heads up, we switch up the spots! Sometimes it’s a sunny picnic in the park, other times brunch with a side of laughs, or maybe a chill hangout at your favorite local bar & grill.

Miss Takes Social Hours bring together our members, filmmakers, creatives, industry friends — and even YOU, the awesome audience who wants to meet the brains behind your favorite shorts! It’s all about kicking back, making real connections, and enjoying good vibes — no production stress allowed.

Families, newbies, seasoned pros, or just folks who love great company — everyone’s invited!

So come as you are, bring your best stories (or just your appetite), and get ready to mix, mingle, and make some magic happen.

Miss Takes Culture Club

Miss Takes Culture Club is our way of stepping outside the studio and into the world of live storytelling. As a group, we attend ballets, symphonies, operas, art museums, stand-up comedy shows, and live concerts — exploring the many forms of performance, sound, and production that inspire our own creative work.

From the stage to the gallery, we believe every artistic experience deepens our understanding of storytelling — and strengthens our community of filmmakers.

Miss Takes Presents: Honorable Mentions Showcase

A Curated Screening for Emerging College Filmmakers

The Honorable Mentions Showcase began at Houston Community College, where founders Amanda Borva and Vanessa Provencio wanted to create space for student films that hadn’t had the chance to be seen — giving filmmakers a platform to share their work and discuss it with their peers.

Now in its third year, the showcase is still going strong and expanding to more campuses across state lines. What started as a small initiative to uplift overlooked or in-progress projects has grown into a vibrant celebration of bold storytelling and authentic student voices.

This isn’t about rankings or awards — it’s about recognition without pressure, creative conversation, and building community. We spotlight emerging filmmakers from across the Southwest and beyond who are using film to move hearts, challenge norms, and speak their truth.
