Meet the visionaries behind Miss Takes Film Club
About Miss Takes Film Club
Miss Takes Film Club was founded in October 2023 by Houston Community College alumni Amanda Borvá and Vanessa Provencio to give students, alumni, and community members hands-on experience in film production.
The name “Miss Takes” reflects our core values: creativity, collaboration, growth, safety, and meaningful community impact. We're not just filmmakers — we're a creative family building something bigger, starting in Houston and expanding to new cities, states, and countries.
Whether you're passionate about acting, writing, directing, editing, or simply curious about what it's like to be on set, Miss Takes is open to anyone who loves storytelling and wants to be part of a vibrant, welcoming creative community.
Our History
Our first film production was shot on May 20, 2024, at HCC, where the team filmed promotional scenes for the college’s film program. What began as a school club quickly evolved into a growing creative movement.
By September 2024, Miss Takes became an official nonprofit, earning 501(c)(3) status in December 2024, setting the foundation to serve even more aspiring artists and storytellers across communities.
Founders
Amanda Borvá and Vanessa Provencio co-founded Miss Takes Film Club in 2023 with a shared vision: to create space for students and emerging creatives to collaborate, experiment, and grow through filmmaking.
Amanda played a key role in shaping the early creative identity of Miss Takes through initial productions, social media, the Writers’ Studio program, and showcases like Honorable Mentions. Her contributions remain an important part of the club’s foundation and ongoing inspiration.
Vanessa structured the legal and operational foundation of the club while also leading creative development. She redesigned Wild Takes (featured at the 58th WorldFest International Film Festival) and launched programs like Miss Takes Fitness Club and Cycle & Scene.
