Miss Takes Presents: Honorable Mentions Showcase
Eligibility
Submissions are open to current college students or individuals who graduated in Spring 2026 from the following institutions:
University of Houston
Texas Southern University
Houston Community College
Lone Star College
San Jacinto College
Alvin Community College
Rice University
Sam Houston State University
Lamar University (Beaumont)
Louisiana State University
University of New Orleans
Submission Requirements
Films must have been produced between 2025–2026
Films must not have been previously screened in the Honorable Mentions Showcase
Accepted formats: short films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos
Runtime: 1–20 minutes
Only the director or writer may submit
Maximum of two submissions per filmmaker
Deadlines
Regular Deadline: October 31,2026
Final Deadline: November 20, 2026
All entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST. Late submissions will not be accepted.

About the Showcase
The Honorable Mentions Showcase is a curated screening dedicated to emerging college filmmakers. Founded at Houston Community College by Amanda Borva and Vanessa Provencio, the showcase was created to give student films a platform—especially those that had not yet been seen—while fostering dialogue among peers.
Now in its fourth year, the showcase has expanded across multiple campuses and state lines. What began as a small initiative has grown into a dynamic celebration of bold storytelling and authentic student voices.
This is not a competition. It is a space for recognition without pressure, creative exchange, and community building—highlighting filmmakers who use their work to move audiences, challenge perspectives, and share their unique voice.
