A Curated Screening for Emerging College Filmmakers
Miss Takes Film Club proudly presents the Honorable Mentions Showcase — a non-competitive film screening spotlighting bold storytelling and authentic voices from college filmmakers across the Southwest and beyond.
This showcase is not about rankings or awards. It’s about recognition without pressure, creative conversation, and making space for filmmakers whose work deserves to be seen and discussed.
What to Expect
A curated screening of selected short films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos
A live Q&A session with featured filmmakers after each screening
A supportive, engaging environment for students to connect, share, and reflect
Whether it’s your first film or your final student project, this is a platform for raw, real, and resonant storytelling.
Who Can Submit?
We’re accepting submissions from current college students and recent Spring 2025 graduates attending one of the following schools:
Houston Community College
University of Houston
Texas Southern University
Lone Star College
MediaTech Institute
Rice University
Lamar University (Beaumont)
Louisiana State University
Oklahoma City Community College
Tulsa Community College
Central New Mexico Community College
Santa Fe Community College
Scottsdale Community College
Submission Guidelines
Eligible Formats: Short films, documentaries, commercials, or music videos
Length: 1 to 15 minutes
Created in: 2025
Who Can Submit: Only the director or writer of the film
Submission Limit: Up to 2 entries per person
